Two Strangers

Hi everyone, Today’s post is a continuation of a story I had written and I want you to read the first two parts of it by clicking here and here.

As Lima climbed under the hotel bed and thought about her meeting with her father the next day, her entire stomach made a gazillion flip flops before it settled down to plain old nausea. The whole body broke out into a sweat with a palpitating heart and shivers. Her father, a renowned surgeon settled in New Zealand thinks he is going to be interviewed by a daily news from India tomorrow. Lima looked at the clock on her bedside only to find out that the time has hardly moved. She drank some more water from the glass and decided to shut her eyes. Flashes of her mother’s face kept coming in and out.

There were dreams I wanted to achieve, things I wanted to do before I died, but I had the responsibility of taking care of you because your father didn’t want to do anything with you. You heard me Lima? He didn’t want anything to do with you. I was the only one you had and the only one you will ever have!

I want to see him once and you’ve brought me up telling me to always to go after the things I want..

With your life, not dig up your mother’s worst nightmare and serve it to her on her deathbed.

You’re not dying mother, you’ve a chest congestion.

I’ll die the day you decide to meet your father. A slow painful death. You heard me?

Lima woke up with a start and looked at the time and it had hardly been half an hour since she drifted into a sleep. Her entire face was covered with tears and all she wanted was to get out of the room and get some fresh air.

“I’ve a family emergency, Roland. It’s important that I leave for Auckland.”

“But you just started assisting me and you’ve the potential to be an excellent pastry chef. Whatever be the family emergency, I’m sure you can sort it out and come back.”

“But I don’t think I can…”

“You know what Angad, take the rest of the evening off and think on a clear head. Let me know your decision by tomorrow morning. What do you say?”

“Okay.”

As Angad said goodbye to his colleagues that night he knew he had a decision that’s been already made up a long time ago. He can never do anything against his father or anybody else for that matter. His father did mention though that he is going to sell the hotel and move back to India if he isn’t going to come and join the business. While Angad wouldn’t have thought too much into it, his mother mentioned on the phone that his father has gone into depression and he thinks it’s humiliating to go back now as a failure. He knew the minute he decided to go back home, that all his life he is going to be pushed around by everyone and he is going to keep letting that happen. When Angad looked at his apron for one last time before leaving the hotel, he knew his dreams had shattered and there was no coming back.

“Do you want me to come with you, bro? It’s pretty late and I’m almost done.” Blake mentioned as he was about to leave.

“No no, I don’t think I’ll get any sleep tonight. I’m just going to the harbor outside the hotel.”
