Hi everyone, the story I’m writing today is a continuation and I’m linking the last 3 parts below.

Introduction-Lima

Introduction-Angad

Two Strangers

**

Angad sat on a stone bench near the harbor overlooking the sea only to close his eyes to hear the sound of the soothing waves. He heard brisk footsteps approaching him and soon felt the wind of someone running past him. Angad opened his eyes and saw a woman dressed in what appears to be a pink gown and wearing a jogging shoes  running past him leaving behind what appears to be a long white scarf.  Angad thought of taking the white scarf which had fallen right in front of his bench and giving it to the girl. But the moment he took the scarf from the ground and looked at the direction the girl had ran away to,  she had almost disappeared from the view. He didn’t have the strength to shout behind someone, not today. So as he went back to his bench and kept the scarf next to him, he thought about the life altering decision he has to give his boss tomorrow morning. There is nothing he can do with his life anymore. Nothing that he wants to anyway.

“Mom tells me you aren’t eating properly. What’s wrong dad?” Angad asked on the phone.

“Nothing.”

“My work here is amazing, I’m doing what I love. Are you happy for me?”

There was no response.

“Dad?..”

“I need to go, I’ve things to do before your mom and I leave for India.”

“Dad, don’t make any hasty decisions. Just wait. I’ll call you within two days. You are not going anywhere.”

“Let’s see.”

As Angad recalled his father’s lifeless voice, he felt a huge lump in his throat. He felt like his heart is sinking into his stomach and the warm fizziness in his throat now was making him well up. As tears started rolling down his cheeks he looked at the scarf and touched it when all of a sudden a human figure stood in front of him. He was startled and screamed, jumping from the bench to look at the person.

“It is common courtesy to try and give something back to its owner if you ever find one on the ground.” Lima shouted.

“It’s none of your business!”

“Ouch, that hurt. Listen buddy, next time you find someone’s property, return it to them instead of collecting it. Creep.”

“I’m not the one wearing a night gown and running shoes in the middle of the night.”

“So? Why don’t you run back and go complain to your parents about me.”

As Lima went to get her scarf from the bench, Angad grabbed it from the side as he was breathing heavily with anger and sadness. He stormed towards the harbour deck and lifted the scarf into the air to drop it into the water.

“Hey, are you kidding me? I don’t have time for your child’s play, Give it back!” Lima said as she stood near the deck.

“Say sorry!”

“What?? Who ARE you?”

“Say it or you can say goodbye to your scarf!”

“Listen kid, I’ve many scarfs and losing one isn’t a problem for me. But you have some serious issues. Good luck with that.”

As Lima was walking away from the deck, she didn’t expect the scarf to make such a sound when it hit the water. As she turned around in surprise, the guy was no where to be found. Lima went up to the deck and looked down at the water only to see the man fighting for his breath. Lima looked around to see if anybody was around and found the place deserted in the middle of the night. As she thought about meeting her father tomorrow for the first time, she tossed her running shoes, preparing to jump into the water.
