Dr.Chakraborty was a well-renowned surgeon in Hyderabad that practically every hospital wanted him as their on-call doctor. He was over fifty years old but looked nothing more than thirty for his age. Dr.Chakraborty followed a very healthy diet and all his neighbors envied his zeal for life and tried to get inspiration from him to wake up early and go for jogging. Everyone admired his cheerful nature and energy that even his patients felt good around him. He had two daughters, both studying abroad for their masters and a lovely wife and from an outsider’s prospective, Dr.Chakraborty lived a good and content life.
It was a bright October morning, when Dr.Chakraborty’s neighbors heard the loudest scream and thumping noise from their house and without thinking further, everyone in Dr.Chakraborty’s neighborhood rushed to find out what has happened to their respectable doctor. After ringing the bell there was no response from the house for a solid five minutes, suddenly Dr. Chakraborty opened the door with a smile that was clearly concocted and told them that his wife was trying to pick up an old vessel and it had fallen on the ground which led her to scream. Even though the neighbors decided to leave the premise, they saw through the open door that Dr.Chakraborty’s wife was scattering papers and other items into the air in a riling spree. This incident started off many rumors in the Chakraborty family.
The hospitals in which Dr.Chakraborty worked started hearing rumors of a failing marriage too, and the people had all the right reasons to believe so. Dr.Chakraborty had changed into someone completely different, starting from his physical demeanor, looking rather pale and weak. His charismatic nature and positivity was nowhere to be seen and all his colleagues felt like he had become dull and tensed. But Dr.Chakraborty never stopped attending his on-call duties as well as his occasional private sessions at home. His wife was also never seen outside their house after the incident and they lived totally detached from everyone around them.
Another six months went by and Dr.Chakraborty and his wife started behaving very oddly by now that he even stopped his private practice and nobody saw him leave the house. When people tried to contact the doctor there was no response.
So it came as a surprise to everyone when both the daughters of Dr.Chakraborty came home all of a sudden. Speculations again rifted like fire with the assumption that now both the daughters are trying to reconcile their estranged parents.
“Dad, mom, you cannot do this to yourselves, come with us, everything will be alright once you come there.” said one of the daughter.

Dr.Chakraborty stood up from his chair, now holding tightly to his walking stick, his face as hollow and patched as ever. He touched the few strands of hair left in his head and spoke in a feeble voice.
“My disease does not define my life. I helped many people come back to life and that is the only thing that matters to me now. And as far as people are concerned, they love misery around them but nobody wants to be part of a depressing story.” he smiled and walked away.
