Plant Nanny

I’m not the healthiest person to even give advices related to wholeness and well-being, BUT I cannot stress enough on the importance of drinking proper quantity of water on a daily basis. You think after having a family with a history of kidney stone would make me more responsible, but that has not been happening and after drinking just a cup of water one particular day, few weeks back, I realized I badly need to change the pattern for good. Ever since that incident, I have tried my level best to drink water religiously, I sometimes most of the times forget and that is when I stumbled upon this app called Plant Nanny. And even though I’ve deleted this app the last time due to a reason that I’ll talk about soon, I think everyone who needs an extra push should give this one a go.

Plant Nanny has both iOS and Android version and it was launched in 2013 by an app developer Fourdesire and guess what it’s FREE.  So basically when you download the app, it starts with asking you some personal information regarding your weight and your physical activity. After rounding up the received information the app will show you how much water your body need and the quantity you need to drink a day. Then comes the fun part, you can choose from a variety of plants and pots and each time you drink a glass of water, you have to tap the little circle on the bottom to virtually water the plant. The plant presumably starts smiling at you until it’s time to water it again, and you to drink water again. Once each sapling grows, they turn into a huge plant and that is when you can keep them in a virtual garden and start planting another sapling of your choice (you need to unlock sapling as you level up, so there is always something to look forward to). The benefit of planing plants in the garden is to gain seeds, with which you can buy different variety of plants and backgrounds for the app. And eventually it would turn into a garden of your dream and something like this.

The reason I deleted this app once was the main reason I started using the app again. If you stop drinking the required amount of water a day, the plant starts to dry up and become dull. I even got one of my sapling to DIE of thirst!! So after a melodramatic day, I decided to delete the app. Now I’ve started my routine again and the push notifications will encourage you to drink more water.

It’s a simple app which is just a click of a button and most importantly as long as you are honest about your actions and not pressing the button just so that you can see your plants grow, (guilty as charged) it should work out fantastic for you. I would also request everyone using it to not press the button every time you drink a beverage of your choice, say, a glass of soda/coffee/tea, it’s an app for god’s sake, not Sherlock Holmes. And if you ever find the push notifications annoying, you have the flexibility to turn it off as well.

So start drinking lots of water people and pee away to glory. 😀 And also most importantly, I was never asked to boast or promote about this app by anyone and it is purely my personal opinion and choice. Just an app I liked and wanted to share with all my favorite people. Do let me know how the app turns out to be and let’s build a virtual plant garden in order to stay hydrated. 🙂
