The Omen Child and her Gem of a Brother

Happyyyyy Monday, everyone! Yesterday while going through my phone I came across the above picture of my brother and I, which has a backstory on deceit and treachery. However, before I address that rather interesting story of mine, can we all take a moment to check out my unibrow, my stone-cold eyes and my vacant, lifeless expression? To be more accurate, I’ve the exact facial expression of the kid in the movie ‘The Omen‘ who is supposed to be an antichrist and an evil incarnated. You don’t believe me? I knew that was a possibility and that is why I’ve made a face collage of both the kid in the movie and I, for you to understand and observe it better.

It’s like we both hate everything in this world and we are truly comfortable showing our true emotions for everyone to see. I was pretty much like a Satan spawn throughout my childhood who hated to be touched unnecessarily, who hated having someone feed her food and who hated everyone for being so damn happy all the time. I knew many of them never tried coming near me because, believe it or not, everyone was scared of me. But when someone who hardly knew me, tried talking to me by saying things like “Hi, can you smile?”, “Hi, Sweet baby”, I gave them a similar look like that on the photo which made them cringe and take a few steps back immediately.  But whatever you and I thought, it doesn’t matter because I never harmed a single living thing. I might have looked like Damien from the movie, but I was innocent, maybe a lot weird, but innocent.

Talking about innocence, look at my brother in the right, smiling like a child who saw God in all his forms and glory. He, in fact, looks like a poster boy for an NGO working for the benefit of the Children in India. I might have thought the same, if I hadn’t known him in real life too. You see, my brother and I weren’t so close during this particular phase of our lives. He was outgoing, mischievous and fun while I was dull, boring and weird. Neither of us took upon each other and while I tried staying away from his power-ball of energy as much as I could, once in a while we were made to spend time with each other, and in this case, for a brother-sister photo shoot. Can you see where his hand is in the picture? He was pinching me and was trying to make sure my dress became messy so that I’ll look horrible in the photo, all the while smiling for the same like a God-child. He found happiness and humor in such behavior during it whereas I found it totally annoying and cruel. And being a dull-dud, I never complained to my parents nor the photographer who was repeatedly asking me to smile, something which was humanly impossible for me. So kids, what did we learn from this story? That looks are deceptive and you should never be prejudiced to anyone because of how they look.

Kunju might have done it for the mere pleasure of entertainment, but I strongly believed he had a grudge against me during that period of time, for reasons only a brother and sister can only understand. However, I assure you that I’ve never felt luckier to have him around in my childhood because anybody else in his place would have disowned me as their sister. Now that we have grown up, he definitely doesn’t try to make me look bad in the pictures, I just simply do. LOL! And with that I would like to end this story on a lighter note by sharing a much less creepier picture of both of us, a few years after this infamous photo shoot, where we were bonding over trying to destroy a coconut tree while posing for the pictures and another picture of us, right before my engagement to Bigshot 🙂
