Ayesha looked at the clock one last time, she could not believe the time has sped up so fast. Her miniature backpack was not enough to fill in 10 days of clothes and not to mention her diaries, those precious 10 diaries in which she had written her heart out from the age of 15. She was not going to leave behind anything that means the world to her. She grabbed two Jeans out of the bag and decided to stuff in her diaries and the few photos she had of her parents and her dog, Lolo. Ayesha gave a fleeting look at her room one more time and sat down on the bed with her eyes closed, many thoughts running through her mind, but felt completely blank. She rubbed her fingers against her mother’s old watch she so dearly loves and prayed hard. She could not make another mistake again, she can’t afford to.
Deepak looked outside his window and saw to his amusement that the watchman was nowhere to be seen. He felt that this is his cue and grabbed his bag and keys. He took each step down the stairs cautiously, hoping not to see or hear anyone roaming around the house in the middle of the night, especially his little brother who takes pride in getting him into trouble. He was going to miss the little guy for sure, but he cannot risk anyone knowing about his plan. He has to get out of the main gate of the house and walk towards the left side of the lane to find his car parked on the side. When he told them the car is in the workshop, even though his dad gave a small nod, he could feel his mother’s doubt. When he was about to cross the main gate however, he saw the watchman sleeping in the rest room and took one last glance at his house, the place he has known and lived for 25 years.

Ayesha heard two mild honks and instantly jumped from her bed, Deepak had come for her. She could feel her hands dripping with sweat and she was about to throw up, when her friend slowly opened the door to the room to say goodbye. Ayesha could hardly contain herself when her friend hugged her tight and tried to cheer her up. She was definitely going to miss her, after all friendship like theirs would not come by so easily. Ayesha had to get past the warden’s room to open the main door and from there she needed to jump the wall without anyone noticing. It was going to be a task and knowing Deepak was standing on the other side of the wall was the only reason she was able to gather up some strength.
The warden was snoring deafeningly and Ayesha along with her friend decided to take out their shoes in order to avoid any sound inside the hostel. They reached halfway across the door, when Ayesha’s phone started ringing. They both stood on the spot, completely frozen, waiting for someone to hear the sound and open their door to scream. Ayesha grabbed her phone from her pocket and cuts the call immediately and within seconds they sneaked out through the door and reached the outside wall. The moon was exceptionally bright that night and it became easy for them to find the right size of rocks to stand on top. At first Ayesha threw a small pebble through to the other side of the wall. She waited for a minute and there was no response. Ayesha looked at her friend, tensed and she then took a little bigger pebble and threw it on the other side of the wall which fell with a much louder noise. Again there came no response. Ayesha immediately took her phone from the pocket and could feel her hands trembling while dialing his number. The phone was switched off.
When Deepak entered the car he could not breathe for a few seconds, he thought of his dad and mom, waking up in the morning to find out the truth. He started imagining their disappointed face and what exactly his dad will end up doing. His eyes met the rear view mirror and his mind wandered towards Ayesha, he couldn’t wait to meet her. He rushed through the deserted road and reached her hostel exactly as they planned. He gave a mild honk, twice as they discussed and decided to park his car on the side lane before going outside the hostel. He gently drove towards the small lane and started reversing, when the view from his side mirror gave him the chills.
