My nest

When I came to the United States of America for the first time I expected a growling city awaiting me with people busy living their lives and partying. Little did I know I have come to the most non-happening place in USA. Greensboro is the kind of place where people come and settle to die peacefully. You cannot see a single soul outside and nobody is busy going for work OR for any parties for sure. How I know?? I tried asking around everyone I met here for a good hangout place and always it starts with a clenched face and a “ummm”. I have asked my hair dresser, I have asked the plumber uncle, I have asked the courier uncle and even some souls Big Shot met at work. Nada. But that can be one other reason for us to travel to almost 5 places in the past 8 months we have been here. I saw how each state is completely different from each other.  SO eventhough I was bumped at the thought of the place we live, there are many things I love about this place.

  • Buying grocery is the smoothest task. There are literally nobody in the supermarkets that sometimes I dance towards the milk section from the fruit section.
  • The WEATHER here is to die for. ( This is the third time I am using this word DIE) Seriously, the winter isn’t as bad compared to other states in the US and the summer isn’t as bad compared to the others. Its just to DIE for!!)
  • Since our place is a small town kind, it is the easiest to travel from movie theatre to a restaurant to the mall to our home, you can walk to places even. (nobody does that)
  • If you are a socially awkward person like me, then this is the place to be. Generally Indians in US don’t even look at each other eye to eye. And nobody I have come across try small talk, at least with me. NOW that’s a plus!
  • The Peace of mind. We hear our neighbor snore at nights and sometimes I even hear the frogs make a dive into the lake. You get the picture.
  • Its a great place for thanksgiving shopping and during sales time, since the whole population of Greensboro can fill an entire Walmart.
  • I love how laid back and paranoid the people here are. This place is for the lazy people and for those who are scared about everything human.

So I LOVE Greensboro for all the above reasons and also because this is the place where I fell in love with Big Shot. Hence, the lack of any pubs, crowd and  youngness sure can be neglected, for now.

I’m an ordinarily odd person who is pleasant to talk to. When I’m not trying to be funny, I would be lying on the floor bawling my eyes out. I write weird stories, real life snippets, traumatic and dramatic memories along with doses of unsolicited advices. 🙂
