As thanksgiving officially came to an end yesterday night, my house currently looks like a crime scene from a really intense investigative movie. Not so long ago last year the exact same thing happened and Bigshot and I swore never to go around this path again, but here we are 365 days later having gone through the same thing with a house filled with stuff that it has occupied our entire living room.
Thanksgiving might be the day Americans say thank you and show unity by gathering as a family and celebrating this festivity. But what I see on a thanksgiving day is people of all races getting together at one shop and buying unnnecessary things at a highly discounted price for the sheer reason that it’s cheap that day. Do they really need a mixing bowl for 2$? The answer is always a no, but do they stop themselves from buying anyway? Of course not.
Yesterday what happened with Bigshot and I were something quite similar. The temptation to buy fuzzy socks because they are merely a 1$ is too much, specially when they write in block letters that the offer is valid just for the day and also they make sure they attract enough people by keeping them on the middle of every row where people pass by. Damn these corporations are good!
One thing led to another and another thing led to another and we have now officially 7 pillows in our house and we hardly have anybody staying over at our place either. We left the house around 3 0 clock in the evening promising ourselves to not buy anything that’s not needed and stick to the bloody list. But shopping at one place and seeing people fight over a PlayStation and seeing them throw scented candles into their carts like they were pieces of stone changed our perspective and thinking. I mean where will you get buy 3 and get 3 free! We were shop hopping from one place to another in search of things that we were soon going regret later this week. I was surprised to even see kids walking around stores at midnight holding on to as many toys they can in their tiny hands in order to convince their parents it’s cheap today and god forbid they ask you to keep it back, all hell breaks loose and they sit on the floor and go frenzy. Every store we went it was chaotic and crowded with people I might only see for one day of the year till they go back to hibernating for the rest of the time. Since we wanted to cover every shop that’s been opened for thanksgiving deals, we skipped basic necessities like food and water and hopped around stores till 1 0 clock when everywhere they decided to shut down.

Everyone then walks towards the parking lot to dump the huge pile of things bought with a lot of regret, worry and mostly utter tiredness. And what bummed Bigshot and I was the fact that there were no restaurants opened at the time and with the sore legs and a sleep deprived body we went home and whipped up something quickly to eat, only to crash and burn in the bed at 3 in the morning. When I woke up today with eyes that can hardly stay opened, I glimpsed at the living room before entering the washroom and the horrific feeling of a bad hangover creeped in.
Until I go about taking care of the mess that the house has become, all you beautiful people, have a good day/night 🙂
