Shenanigans Of A Frantic Goal-Digger

Hellooooooo my beautiful people, I feel like I haven’t spoken to you for a long time and the reason I say that is not just because it was a weekend. In fact it’s definitely not because of the weekend. It’s because of the downright amount of work I did over the weekend and the more trifling things I wish I did. Yes this post is going to be all about my whining, welcome aboard!

I thought Friday was going to be a normal day while Bigshot works at home and I’ll go through everything we got for the house for the thanksgiving sale. Once I started dumping things I don’t need for the house including the kitchen rugs and bathroom rugs, throwing away things that has been a pain in our ass for a long time became much more easier for me. Obviously Bigshot was trying to apply his theory of “If it’s not used for a year, you don’t need them near” and no he did not try to rhyme the sentence, that’s just me for you. But the theory of his could not be applied to things we used in a year and found them utterly useless and not to mention plain stupid. Like for example this blender we bought for a cheap price some months back, I’m not kidding you when I tell you that it wasn’t even pulping chopped watermelon. Chopped watermelon! It had to go and if we gave that to someone, they would probably leave them back in front of our house with a spiteful note. So while cleansing out the entire house I came to a realization that I had a lot of cleaning up to do. And if you know me and reads my blog you would know for a fact that I’ve a problem. If I keep a goal to finish a job at a particular amount of time, I’ve to do it, correction, I need to do it! And it’s not like I stop it at one, I’m a goal-digger, however, I keep setting unnecessary goals for myself and mess up my entire head over finishing it on time.

It started with the closet in the house when I started arranging and categorizing the clothes, also I had bought a closet organizer that hangs which was giving me the annoying zeal to start with the closet in the first place. Once I was done with half of the closet, the hanging organizer wasn’t sufficient for the clothes and since I had vacuumed the entire closet carpet, I decided why not clean the adjacent bedroom as well. Now I cannot stress into the whole cleaning process because that will completely make me sound cuckoo but it went absolutely out of hand. For starters I was skipping food and ignoring Bigshot completely. He is never the kind to notice or mention my absolute disinterest in him, but even he started coming towards me with sympathetic look and offers to help. The absolute devil that I’m, I dismissed him saying he doesn’t know how it works and threw him some tips on how to pick a cloth from the closet without disturbing the arrangement. But unfortunately I don’t think he heard me speak the whole sentence before he left scrammed the room.

After the room, it was time for bathroom, which took around half a day to finish and then the kitchen which took the rest of the day. By now it was a Sunday night and I couldn’t move a muscle anymore in my body and not to mention starting from Friday my sleep has been for a mere 5 hours because all I could think of before sleep and after waking up was what are my next goals for the house. I still have the living room to clean but looking back I feel like I should have taken it slow as it’s Monday already and I could have watched a movie with Bigshot which he badly wanted to. In fact he even made Biriyani for us when I was frantically running around mopping the house.

The only trivial and fun things we did were to go for a friend’s baby shower and watch some episodes of Crown on Netflix. For god’s sake I couldn’t even sit through Crown without fussing over the rest of the cleaning. I might need to learn a few things to slow down and let things fall into it’s place on its own time. I’m going to work on it. I hope this rant comes of some help to you to consider slowing down once in a while and learning to enjoy doing the things you love rather than trying to finish it fast. As someone wise once said and I quote, “It’s the journey that matters, than the destination itself.”  Have a good day/night everyone 🙂
