Ole Smoky Distillery, Sky Lift and Blue Ridge Parkway

Saturday was a hectic trip to the Smoky Mountains and on Sunday we decided to cover a few more places in there before heading home. So as usual we had our breakfast and left for Gatlinburg downtown only to be stopped every few minutes by the congested traffic. It was one of the crowded weekends of the year and we had a decision to either go all the way up into the mountains with the traffic or to stay in Gatlinburg and see a few places there. After a deliberate discussion in the traffic we decided to take the U-turn and explore Gatlinburg and leave.

We started off with Ripley’s 5D movie and the movie literally felt like I was on a roller coaster ride that everyone in the theatre couldn’t stop screaming and howling the whole time. After that we went into the Ripley’s haunted house because Bigshot likes it. Me? Not so much. You see, I always refrain myself from watching any horror movies after I became an adult because I know how I would behave after watching one. I see imaginary hands on the windows, I see imaginary faces on the mirror behind me, I also cling on to another human being for another couple of days wherever I go. Hence to avoid such embarrassments I’ve never seen a horror movie for the past couple of years. Anywya we entered the haunted house which had people and so much of props that you can pretty much feel fear. One guy out of nowhere even purposely scared the shit out of me because I was looking the most nervous in the whole group. Not proud of it.

Then we decided to take the Sky lift which is an open air chairlift ride to the top of the 1800 sq ft overlook with the views of the Smoky Mountains. We went all the way up and saw the amazing view of the whole of Gatlinburg along with the mountains and took our ride back. We even saw a badass man on the ride back, he just owned it.

As I mentioned in the first post about the trip, Gatlinburg is the hub for distilled moonshine and home-made wines that we had to check them out before leaving. So we went to the Ole Smoky Distillery where they make moonshine. The whole process of making a moonshine seemed meticulous and passionate. The variety of flavors they have are insane including apple pie, butterscotch, peppermint you name it. In fact they even have salsas and dips of moonshine. We got ourselves a few of the moonshine and home-made wine and left Gatlinburg after our lunch.

On our way back we decided to make a small adjustment and thought of visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway on the Asheville side. The fall sight was similar to that of Smoky Mountains but the road that was leading up to them were smooth and relaxing. After taking in the beautiful view and clicking some pictures our journey back home was pretty normal, except, I annoyed Bigshot by talking and saying goodbye to every mountain and trees on the way, OUT LOUD and as soon as we reached the highway I became his Siri/Google assistant again.
