The first time they met!

The only time I’ve seen my husband get jealous is when I speak to Akash, my frequent and imaginary friend and Shivani, my non-imaginary and not so frequent friend. With Shivani it’s all understandable because if any of you saw the conversations we have on the phone you would presume something is cooking between us too. We have this inate quality of expressing ourselves through words and emojis which is quite insane. But with Akash there is no question of any romantic relation or a strong friendship, we are simply friends who meet every once in a while and strike off with a good conversation along with the occasional fights over not keeping in constant touch with each other.

It’s not like I speak to Bigshot about Akash or I speak with Akash when Bigshot or anybody is around for that matter, but the moment I say something about Akash, he starts flaunting the things only real people can do, like touch and feel. So you would have freaked out too yesterday if I told you that Akash brought a friend with him and I gave a handshake for the first time to that person! Akash is getting married, people and he has finally found the love of his life.!!!

I don’t speak about Akash or the things we discuss nowadays because most of the times it’s the mundane and trivial things that happens in a day. While I was growing up we had a lot more to talk, discuss and fight but now my friend has become more of a calm and composed person. Okay back to the girl, I don’t have a name for her yet but she seemed friendly and awfully quiet for some reason. All she did through out the time while we were speaking was to stare at me from head to toe every once in a while. I must admit that I felt a little uneasy about it but soon I started getting involved in my conversation with Akash and completely forgot that she was standing around.

Apparently, Akash and her met while they were both participating for a marathon that happened a few month back. He was with his friends and she was with hers and the moment Akash started running he felt a small pebble which was having a marathon of its own inside his running shoes. He tried to wiggle his shoe to make himself more comfortable and decided to ignore it till he finished the run. As he cursed his luck for not checking his shoe before running, through out the time he was thinking of nothing but the pebble that was in his shoes.

“Why couldn’t you just stop, take off your shoe and shake the pebble off!” I interrupted.

“I’m getting to it woman!” He replied.

As he couldn’t enjoy running anymore and because of which couldn’t focus on the marathon properly, he decided to finally get rid of the pebble for good. But you see, in marathons there are people running on your sides, in front of you and behind you that you need to make sure your path is clear before you decide to stop your pace. It’s exactly like how you would stop a car while driving on a highway in high speed. But as he was too frustrated with that pebble ruining half of his marathon, he made an abrupt stop and stooped to take his shoe from his leg, only to have someone push him ahead. As he was in a stooping position he couldn’t get a balance and both him and the person who was running in a good speed behind him collided and fell on the ground.

“Oh so that was her! That’s something of a first meeting” I said.

“If you would let me finish what I started and stop interrupting after every few sentence..”

“I’m excited for you! Sorry continue.”

So basically I was correct, that was in fact her. And she was hurt and was bleeding through the nose. Akash, the gentleman he is said sorry to her a million times and took her to the hospital along with one of her friend. While they were in the hospital they started talking and he came to know that she is a doctor, but a veterinarian. Her father is in the army and her mother is a teacher in a school. One thing lead to another and they exchanged numbers, went on a few dates and now Akash is planning to propose to her.

“So soon? Is she the one?” I asked.

“Yeah bring Vinod too, I would love to speak to him.”

“Ah Okay. sure.”

“Why? What’s wrong? All okay?” Akash asked.

“Well, I’m not real. I’m your imagination.”

“Exactly!!”
